INVISTA Resumes Previously Idled Spandex Production Operations
WAYNESBORO-INVISTA announced today that it will restart a previously idled portion of its Waynesboro, VA site’s spandex production operations.
Market conditions have afforded the INVISTA Waynesboro site the opportunity to resume this production. Resumption of full operation for spandex production is anticipated to be complete by the end of second quarter of 2007.
The restart could result in the addition of up to 50 jobs pending the outcome of union negotiations. Current INVISTA employees, as well as new applicants, will be considered for the new roles, which will be filled over the next several months. The majority of the new positions will be for spinning operators. These positions offer competitive wages and benefits along with eligibility for performance incentives.
As with every site and business, INVISTA will continue to monitor and evaluate the site’s structure and make decisions based on market demand. While the long-term outlook with regard to market demand is unknown, the sustainability of the additional production will depend on many variables, including future market conditions and continued improvement with regard to cost competitiveness at the Waynesboro site.
